Laura Shelton

Head Athletic Trainer, Concussion Institute at GMC-Duluth

Laura earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training from Valdosta State University in 2005 and completed an internship at Tulane University in New Orleans. She completed her Master’s degree in Kinesiology and Health Studies at Southeastern Louisiana University in 2007.

Laura then spent three years as an assistant athletic trainer at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, La., where she was the primary athletic trainer for the women’s soccer and softball programs. While there, she also served as the insurance coordinator for all athletic related insurance claims and a clinical instructor for their CAATE accredited undergraduate athletic training program.

Her most recent experience prior to joining the Concussion Institute was as the assistant director of sports medicine at Mercer University in Macon,where she primarily worked with women’s basketball and cheerleading programs.

Laura is a NATABOC certified athletic trainer and licensed by the State of Georgia as an athletic trainer. She is also an ImPACT trained athletic trainer (ITAT) and a member of the National Athletics Trainers Association.
