Kent Qualls graduated from the University of Kentucky, where he attended on an athletic training scholarship and worked with student athletes participating across all sports, but primarily with the football, basketball and baseball teams. He then worked in Major League Baseball for 16 years with the Montreal Expos and Boston Red Sox. Qualls has also worked as a head athletic trainer at the high school and college levels.

He currently lives in Johns Creek with his family and assists with the North Fulton-area high schools—Johns Creek, Chattahoochee and Northview High Schools.
